Mechanical Technician

Job Description:

Job title: Mechanical Technician

Location: Anbar / Akkaz Oilfield

Reports To:

Mechanical Supervisor / Mechanical Lead

Job Objective:

Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment at oil & gas field sites, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project standards and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems, piping, and equipment on site.
  • Assist in assembly, alignment, and testing of rotating and static equipment.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance activities as per schedule.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow work instructions and comply with safety and quality standards.
  • Support supervisors and engineers in completing mechanical tasks and projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Technical diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and installation, preferably in oil & gas fields.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical systems, piping, rotating and static equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow technical drawings and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of QA/QC and HSE practices specific to oil & gas environments.
  • Teamwork and communication skills.

  • Minimal equipment downtime and quick resolution of mechanical issues.
