I. General
Responsible for well engineering and operations support for one or more rigs including preparing Well Proposals, Basis of Designs, Well Programs (Drilling, Completion, Workover), AFE’s and End of Well Reports. Supervises and mentors FET’s and junior engineers. Performs Assistant Well Site Leader duties according to the Sapphire Program development requirements. Attends critical operations at the wellsite as necessary.

- Reports to the Senior Well Engineer or Drilling / Project Manager.
- Acts as Mentor to junior Engineers
III. Responsibilities
General
- Performs offset well analysis
- Prepares the Well Proposal and Basis of Design and follows the execution of programs technically
- Performs casing and tubing design including using TDAS software
- Prepares Well Programs and timely End-of-Well reports
- Prepares well operations procedures e.g. Casing running and cementing
- Prepares well time estimates and AFE’s
- Prepares project well control briefing
- Participates in selection and evaluation of service companies, suppliers and equipment
- Ensures proper communication with relevant parties (client, segments, third parties, etc)
- Participates in cost control of programs Vs AFE by analyzing solutions.
- Reviews new technology for possible application to project
- Uses InTouch for best practices, lessons learned and technical alerts
- Participate in Drilling TIC projects as assigned
QHSE
- Participates in HARC’s
- Prepares requests for exemptions to Standards in QUEST
- Enters SQ RIR’s resulting from well operations in QUEST
- Prepares Management of Change to well programs
Planning
- Forecasts and plans medium and long term needs to meet program requirements
- Anticipates operational changes and needs and revises plan accordingly
- Participates in Daily Operations Meetings
- Discuss KPIs on regular basis and evaluate how to achieve those
Performance & cost monitoring
- QA/QC of data in Daily Drilling Report
- Evaluates results Vs goals and performance of service companies.
- Monitors daily Time/Depth progress and take active part in daily performance calls
- Monitors daily cost/depth progress Vs AFE
- Reviews performance trends including NPT across all rigs
- Initiates engineering corrective action to ensure a process of continuous improvement
- Initiates engineering studies to solve recurring problems (wellbore stability, lost circulation, washouts, etc)
IV. Competencies and Behavior
The Well Engineer should have B.Sc Engineering Degree preferably Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering.
